Yoast, one of the most powerful SEO tools for WordPress, has recently got a massive update.
The latest update aims at providing the webmasters with the latest Google algorithm change related to the meta description snippets.
If you don’t know what meta description is, you might want to check out my previous article.
Earlier, the recommended length of the Meta snippets used to be 160 which has recently been increased to 300 which, according to Google, would cater for more flexibility to the website owners to provide more of information about their posts/pages.
This is a good initiative taken by Google as it used to be rather tedious a job to fit in all the relevant information about the post in just 160 words.
That being said, what impact is it going to have on the existing articles and the websites as a whole are yet to be discovered.
Whatever the impact be, Yoast seems to have handled the situation pretty well. The latest update provides more room for the snippets and now you don’t have to cramp up the relevant information you want to show to the users.
Yoast SEO 6.0: 320 character meta descriptions are here
These past few weeks there has been a lot of talk about Google’s decision to change the default meta description length to upto 320 characters. We’ve been testing how Google uses this, and we’ve been talking to Google representatives to make sure that we’re giving you the right options. With today’s release of Yoast SEO 6.0 (including the TYPO3 version, Magento 2 will follow soon), we’ve changed the meta description length from 156 to 320 characters.
