The key factor in this diet is to limit your carbohydrate intake to almost a negligible amount.

Eat as few carbs as possible

Your carb intake for the whole day in a Ketogenic diet should ideally be below 20 grams. If you can not maintain this strict an intake, try to limit it to 40, but anything more than that would not be recommended.

This means that you will have to say a strict no to the following stuff:

  • Anything too sugary
  • Starchy foods like bread, rice, potatoes etc
  • Milk and curd
